Civil 3D Features¶
The Civil 3D version of R3Survey (WC.R3Survey.C3D) includes all features from the AutoCAD version plus additional tools that integrate with the Civil 3D object model.
CogoPoint creation¶
R3Survey can create Civil 3D CogoPoints from traverse data and LandXML imports, rather than plain AutoCAD point entities. CogoPoints participate in Civil 3D point groups, label styles, and surface creation.
User Defined Properties (UDP)¶
When creating CogoPoints, R3Survey can populate User Defined Properties — custom fields attached to each CogoPoint. A UDP wizard assists in setting up the schema for a project.
Common UDPs for survey use: - Plan reference - Point code / feature code - Field book reference - Observation class
Surfaces¶
R3Survey surface tools allow creating or modifying Civil 3D surfaces from survey traverse data.
Note
Surface tools documentation is in progress.
Coordinate systems¶
The Civil 3D add-in includes coordinate system transformation tools for working between local assumed systems and GDA2020 or other projected coordinate systems.
Stringer / polyline generation¶
The Stringer tool generates Civil 3D feature lines or polylines from traverse data based on survey codes. This is the Civil 3D equivalent of the AutoCAD string-line generation feature.
Notes¶
- The Civil 3D add-in requires Civil 3D 2025 or later
- All AutoCAD commands (
R3TRAV,R3PROPERTIES,R3IMPORTLANDXML, etc.) are available in Civil 3D - Civil 3D-specific features are only available when running inside Civil 3D, not plain AutoCAD
